The Focus Aventura2 6.7 step-thru electric bike gave me plenty of riding options and was also enjoyable to ride.
The brand offers three variations of this model: 6.6, 6.7, and 6.8. The main difference lies in the battery capacity, which is 500Wh, 625Wh, and 750Wh, respectively, while the other components remain the same.
Important information about my review: This e-bike was loaned by Spokes Abbotsford for testing purposes, and all the words are my own. I have not been compensated to promote the bike store or the bike’s brand.

Focus Aventura2 6.7 Review: My Findings
Terrains tested
During my test ride, I tried different terrains, including:
- Medium-level off-road up hill and downhill (20% incline) for suspension and maneuverability
- Light gravel paths to test grip, brakes, and responsiveness
- Asphalt for low-level pedal assist testing (PAS) with the Bosch motor and non-PAS
I also pushed the motor on hill climbs, especially off-road.
First impressions
- The frame and components looked well-finished, giving the whole bike a solid appearance.
- For a city commuter e-bike, the motor quality seemed above what’s typically needed, which is great for touring.
- With its suspension and tyre setup, I felt it could handle medium off-road downhill rides. Still, the step-thru frame wasn’t explicitly designed for that.
For context, I’ve tested folding e-bikes before, and compared to them, this felt sturdier right away.
Focus Aventura2 Pedal Assist Levels (PAS) Performance
Test ride: No motor assistance
Without assistance, pedalling felt smooth, thanks to the drivetrain and gearing quality. On inclines, however, I definitely noticed its 27 kg weight, so selecting the right gear made a big difference.
Testing it with no assistance was important to me as it is good to know how difficult it could be to ride it without assistance.
Test ride: Eco (lowest PAS)
- Eco mode was excellent for cruising on flat terrain and gentle starts.
- On a 20% incline, it struggled a bit, but still outperformed some other Focus models I’ve tested.
- The battery consumption was minimal as it didn’t drop a single bar during the test.
Test ride: Tour (middle PAS)
- Tour mode felt similar to Eco, but with more punch at takeoff.
- On flat terrain, the power felt almost excessive, though I think it could be helpful for sudden hills.
I think this mode strikes a sweet spot for everyday riding, but it could be further fine-tuned for improved battery efficiency.
Test ride: Turbo (highest PAS)
- The Turbo mode was responsive, powerful, and consistent on inclines.
- I loved how the assistance was maintained while riding uphill, especially during the off-road portion of the test.
- The motor’s 85Nm torque really showed on the climbs. Of course, battery drain was heavier, but that’s expected when it’s giving maximum output.
Overall, I felt that the PAS of the Aventure 2 6.7 was great, providing ample power when needed and maintaining assistance without struggle.
Test Ride: Comfort and Ride Feel
I tested comfort mainly on gravel and a mild downhill trail.
- The 110 mm front air suspension felt generous, better than what many mountain bikes could offer. It also absorbed shocks well.
- The thick tyres’ grip was excellent, providing me with a sense of control over the turns and softening impacts during bumps.
- I barely felt the ride’s impact on my wrist, something I appreciate. However, my hips noticed it a little differently.
Even downhill, I felt entirely in control, almost forgetting I was on a step-thru frame.
The Controller & Display Features
This Focus Aventura 2 was equipped with the Bosch smart system. For context, I didn’t receive a display, which allowed me to see how a smartphone could serve that role.
I think a display could be unnecessary, as the controller already provides colour codes for PAS indication and the battery level left for my test ride.
In conclusion, I’d prefer a dedicated Bosch display for added stats on the go. Also, replacing a $400 display feels safer than risking my smartphone in an accident.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etyz_4zyJWoThings I Liked About This E-Bike
1. Touring ready: Fitted with a generous front suspension air system, thick tyres for added comfort, and a strong rear rack to carry additional weight.
2. Tech incorporated: Two big brands merged to provide a good riding experience
3. Long battery range: 60 km minimum riding range is not bad.
The Potential Deal-Breaker?
1. Front light: I think the front light looked basic (still good for riding at night). I also believe that it takes up handlebar space that could otherwise fit a small front bag.
2. Overall weight: For a step-thru e-bike, at 27kg, it felt heavier than expected; however, riding without PAS was fine, and removing the battery could make lifting easier, but I believe it is still weighty.
3. Bottle cage mounts: They seemed limited if touring is one of the primary purposes of this model.
Is the Focus Aventura2 6.7 Worth It? Verdict
This model was clearly designed for both urban riding and touring. At first, I expected it to feel lighter, but the motor assistance helped balance that impression.
What stood out most was the comfort and sense of control. For me, that made the ride truly enjoyable.
Overall, I think the Focus Aventura2 6.7 step-thru is a good choice for riders who want easy transitions between city and light off-road riding without compromising comfort.
Have you tried it? I’d love to hear your experience so others can weigh both the strengths and the trade-offs.
